Anique Kuizenga

Though Anique is driven by the nature of “fleeting” art through materials such as sand, ice and snow, she says her passion for sand sculpting will never die. That’s because she constantly draws inspiration from the people, sounds, and smells she encounters. Anique began her practice in 1996 as a student at the Academy for Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen, The Netherlands. These formative years gave rise to what’s now considered Anique’s diverse and intellectual reputation as a sand artist.

Anique believes sand allows each new sculpture to be an “adventure”. Her work has been featured in festivals and competitions around the world and continues to wow civilians and industry colleagues alike. Anique even met her husband while “on the pile”. She says she’s “very fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel and meet so many creative souls”. Congrats Anique!
